Van Dyken Mechanical, Inc. was awarded the Mechanical portion of this single-story church project. The architect, who is also a member of the church, knew their vision, and worked directly with Van Dyken’s engineering team to design the mechanical package that would fit their unique needs and budget. The building required thirteen furnace and AC split systems for the classroom wing, chapel, lobby/office areas and fellowship hall with kitchen. The sanctuary is conditioned with a ground mounted rooftop unit and five exhaust fans were installed for the restrooms and kitchen. Van Dyken’s engineering team created a 3-D Revit model for clash detection which was critical in areas like the classroom’s mechanical space and the sanctuary. The vaulted ceiling in the sanctuary made chase space and duct routing a challenge, and the model was able to predict issues before construction began, avoiding unforeseen additional costs during construction. The end result was a great product for the money spent, and we are confident the church will be pleased with their new building for many years.
